Things to do Lot-et-Garonne, a region where life is enjoyable
Visit the market towns and restaurants. Several towns within half an hour's drive all have different days for street markets,  where you can buy or browse among such a variety of stalls: like cheeses and wines, dresses and bags, arts and crafts,  and much more. During the summer months some of the surrounding villages hold 'marchés nocturnes', night  markets, where you can browse, and choose from a variety of dishes on offer if you're hungry.  Our main town is Marmande with lots to do, such as parks for the kids and walks by the canal  and the Garonne river for the adults. There is also a lovely art Museum in the town of  Marmande.   And through the year Fêtes such as: 'Fête de la Tomate' in July, 'Gara Rock' at the beginning of the summer and 'Salon  du Chocolat' in November. There are also many towns with ancient buildings and towers, a delight for the sightseer,  photographer or artist, or a study project for the historian.  Other towns of interest: Eymet, Issigeac (medieval city), Monflanquin, Villeneuve-sur-lot and  Casteljaloux with it’s thermal baths. Some of these towns have been sympathetically restored, with modern pavements, such as in  Miramont de Guyenne 10 minutes down the road or Bergerac at just 45 minutes away (photos  of Bergerac opposite and above)  Touring around you should take time to stop ‘off road’ (try Tourtrès for example, not far from La  Tapie) to enjoy a picnic with a panoramic view of the countryside.  There are so many places to visit that we cannot do justice to all the possibilities on one short  page. There will be a welcome pack to refer to in the room.  For the wine lovers among you, you could visit these destinations: Bordeaux, Marmandais,  Sigoulès (Bergerac), Duras or Buzet en Albret.  Sarlat is an exceptionally well-preserved city which is 1h20 minutes away. More than 1 000  years of architecture lives through the village lanes and it has been the natural backdrop for  many movies over the years.   You can go for a lovely day out canoeing at http://canoe-roquegeoffre.com/ which we highly  recommend or visit prehistoric caves and châteaux with overwhelming views.  There are also many good restaurants within half an hour's drive.  For the walkers or those who wish to have a walk near Prayssas, you can visit the website of the IGN (NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC INSTITUTE).
